Queer Dinner Church
The mid-worship liturgical scream
broke into the pain shared by many latinx, QTPOC, and LGBTQIA folks in the aftermath of the 2016 Orlando Massacre. One week after the tragedy, and in the middle of Boston’s Pride celebration, a group of queer folks gathered together to sing, cry, rage, and rejoice over mac & cheese, green beans, and freshly baked bread. Together we shared stories, sang, and prayed to the God of glitter and grit, of leather and gender rebellion.
Before the leftovers were packed and sent home with congregants it was clear that Open Table needed to repeat Queer Dinner Church to create sanctuary for queer people in the Boston area at a time when we are acutely aware of how fragile these spaces can be. Members of the latinx, QTPOC, and LGBTQIA community are invited to join us on the second Tuesday each month. Arrive between 6:15 and 6:30pm to 1555 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge (entrance on the side of the building). Dinner and liturgy begin at 6:30pm
